@ploafmaster.com This month, however, I started watching Dune: Prophecy on HBO. She perked up and took interest, and we watched all 6 episodes over 5 nights.

The following evening she declared, “I think it’s time to watch the movie.” We had to break it up over three nights, but she stuck with it.

@ploafmaster.com The day after part 1, she said, “Okay, time for the next one.” At our age and with 2 kids, it’s actually common to watch movies piecemeal together.

But she watched all 2 hours and 45 minutes last night!

@ploafmaster.com I’m impressed by how effective the TV series was in connecting some conceptual threads that exist in the films (especially part 1), most obviously the Bene Gesserit and the age old political machinations of the empire.

@ploafmaster.com Anyway, I’ll eventually finish reading Dune, but as of last night my wife and I are looking forward to season 2 of the show and the potential for a Dune Messiah movie in the unspecified future.

@murden.bsky.social I think the youth might say “lolsob” or some such.
